Double Shot are about to change.

We've already announced our expansion, of course. As of February we are four:
Justin Spooner
Sarah Turner
Matthew Shorter
Simon Hopkins

Matthew and Sarah bring a whole new set of capabilities and specialisms, so we thought: time to re-think a little, and not least how we appear to the world.

Very soon, then, we'll be Unthinkable Consulting

Not just yet though. If you're talking to us over the next month, we'll still be Double Shot, but don't be perplexed if the U-word starts to surface. We can't help ourselves. We will, of course, let you know when we make the leap. For one thing, we'll be closing this site down - although naturally we're going to maintain the DS blog archive.

Until then, we remain Double Shot, a consultancy founded in 2007, with a shared background as much in production as it is in strategy. Since we started, we've been privileged to work with a diverse range of clients and individuals across the arts, education, local authority, media and entertainment. We pride ourselves on being straightforward, eschewing jargon and received wisdom and always telling our clients what we think - not what we think they want to hear.

We like to do our thinking in public, on our blog and with our Twitterfeed

Our areas of specialism are really our shared passions:
  • Web 2.0 and business:  Ensuring the right balance between business drivers and audience needs, making use of the wholeweb and selecting the right tool for the right job for maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Working together: how digital collaboration brings serious benefits - and serious challenges - to businesses, educators and creators
  • Tapping into the cognitive surplus: how we're turning away from passive media consumption and making our free time productive
  • Property & freedom: how Intellectual Property Rights in a digital world deeply affect the ways in which we can create & learn...
  • The new amateurism: now all the tools and channels are democratised, how are you going to make a living in a world of endless supply?
  • Education: technology is turning the way we learn on its head, but is the institution of teaching keeping pace?
  • Campaigning & activism: how social media is reinventing what groups can achieve and the democratic principles our society holds dear
  • From broadcasting to conversation: how our expectations as consumers - and as citizens - are changing marketing and the practise of advertising fundamentally.

We don't really do "off the shelf"; our working methods are as varied as our clients. Our work to date has included:
  • Senior management training and awareness-raising
  • Hands-on technical training
  • Brainstorm & workshop creation, production and facilitation
  • Strategy creation and documentation
  • Conception and design of digital campaigns and activism
  • R&D cultivation
  • Business relationship brokerage
  • Research and "think" pieces
  • Small scale interaction build
