Simon's music journalism

Although he does it rarely now, from the early 90s onwards Simon did a lot of writing about music, including profiles, interviews and many, many reviews. The bulk of this writing was done for a couple of print publications - The Wire and HiFi World - and a pioneering online music magazine - Motion.

The Wire reviews are, we're afraid, only available in back issues of the magazine. However, you can read the profile he wrote for them on one of his heroes - composer and saxophonist John Zorn - here.

Simon's monthly jazz column for HiFi World - in which he stretched the term jazz about as for as he could without being summarily sacked - for almost a half-decade. We'll be republishing those reviews on this site over the coming months. You lucky things.

Motion has now morphed into sonomu.net. Again, over the coming months we'll be publishing a full list of those reviews, but in the meantime you can access them here.

Simon would like to apologise fully for the lack of metal written about in all those words. He hadn't yet set out to Damascus. Don't Get Me Started will seek to rectify that.
